Award-winning Jazz Pianist MICHAEL KAESHAMMER to record with Laura Secord Secondary School Choir
In May 2010, Smooth Jazz Award winner and Juno Nominee Michael Kaeshammer visited Laura Secord Secondary School to lay down vocal tracks for a brand new song. Called “We Are One”, the tune is a fund-raiser for World Vision, and will be premiered at a June 3rd concert at Laura Secord. The recording will also involve Laura Secord alumnus James Bryan (Philosopher Kings, Prozzak, Sunshine State) and the singing group 4-in-1, from the Dominican Republic.
Laura Secord Secondary School, through music teacher Dave Sisler, has been involved in World Vision fund-raising efforts since 2007, when James Bryan approached him with the idea of recording a song with the school’s students. The efforts resulted in the song “Sing Across the World” and a concert at Laura Secord that brought about the sponsorship of 50 more children through World Vision. Toronto-based Michael Kaeshammer is continuing the tradition of world-class artists working with this talented group of students to raise awareness for World Vision’s efforts.
Michael Kaeshammer has collaborated with the students up to this point, taking their suggestions for melody, theme and lyrics. At the recording session, he and Dave Sisler will record the vocal tracks for the Laura Secord choir.
The song is now available on iTunes. All proceeds go to World Vision Canada.
