BIO:
Intently staying within the indie music scene for the past 6 years, Sczebel (pronounced “sa-bell”) has already achieved what many artists only dream of - a Juno Award, a Western Canadian Music Award and the honour of being named a two-time grand prize winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. In June 2009 Sczebel was named one of Canada’s most unique and creative individuals by Nissan Canada, winning himself one of the first Nissan Cubes released in Canada. Despite his love for his new wheels, Sczebel ran his own contest, giving fans a chance to win his ride in exchange for helping him promote his new album release. Sczebel will deliver the Cube to one lucky fan this Fall. Sczebel was also named one BC’s top 20 artists in the Peak Performance Project and now competes for the grand prize of $100,500, awarded by 100.5 FM The PEAK and Music BC. In addition, he was chosen to write and record with Grammy Award winning producer and songwriter, Toby Gad, whose credits include Beyonce’s hit “If I Were A Boy”, and Fergie’s smash, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”. The experience comes courtesy of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, who opened the contest up to songwriters and artists around the globe.
Greg has struck out across the nation repeatedly, playing his own music and supporting other artists, including multi-platinum selling Country artist Paul Brandt (Sczebel has been a mainstay in Brandt’s band for nearly three years). He has also performed with David Foster and crooner Michael Buble.
Sczebel recently released his sophomore effort, Love & The Lack Thereof. All 13 tracks were penned and co-produced by Sczebel, ranging from the feel good Pop/Rock opener “One by One”, to the bombastic jam, “Causin’ A Commotion” and the emotive piano ballad-turned-rock-opera, “Cancelling the Noise”. Named “one of the strongest pop releases of the year - hands down” (TheBridgeLive.net), Love & the Lack Thereof is available at HMV, CD Plus, on iTunes and GregSczebel.com
